PAHs test

PAHs (Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons, PAHs) are linear, angular, or lumpy chemical structures composed of two to seven benzene rings of varying degrees. Mainly due to incomplete combustion of carbon-containing compounds or during the use of fossil fuels. There are more than 100 PAHs currently known, and there are 16 PAHs listed as regulated by the US Environmental Protection Agency (see below):
■ Naphthalene ■ Benzo (a) anthracene
■ Acenaphthylene ■ Chrysene
■ Acenaphthene 苊 ■ Benzo (b) fluoranthene
■ Fluorene 芴 ■ Benzo (k) fluoranthene
■ Phenanthrene ■ Benzo (a) pyrene Benzo (a) pyrene
■ Anthracene ■ Indeno (1,2,3-cd) pyrene
■ Fluoranthene Fluoranthene ■ Dibenzo (a, h) anthracene
■ Pyrene 芘 ■ Benzo (g, hi) perylene Benzo (ghi) pyrene
EU Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons Directive 2005/69 / EC
Directive 2005/69 / EC of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons signed by the European Parliament and the members of the European Union in Strasbourg, France on November 16, 2005, is the twenty-seventh revision of Directive 76/769 / EEC, and was revised in 2010 Effective from January 1. EU Directive 2005/69 / EC stipulates that the additive oil sold on the market or the additive oil used to make tires shall meet:
■ BaP content is less than 1 mg / kg
■ The total content of 8 PAHs (BaP, BeP, BaA, CHR, BbFA, BjFA, BkFA, DBAhA) is less than 10 mg / kg
PAHs Restrictions
PAHs limits for consumer products (materials in contact with food, materials that will be placed in the mouth, toys and child care products) are as follows:

parameter
one type Second class Three categories
Food-contact materials or toys that children under 3 will put in their mouths Parts that are in frequent contact with the skin for more than 30 seconds and are not covered by Category 1 regulations Occasional sexual contact, less than 30 seconds of contact with the skin, or no contact with the skin
BaPmg / kg Not detectable (<0.2) * 1 20
Total of 16 PAHs mg / kg Not detectable (<0.2) * 10 200
If the test results are greater than Class I but meet Class II limits, the tests shall be performed in accordance with DIN EN 1186 and § 64 LFBG 80.30-1 migration tests to confirm the test results.
Other regulations restricting PAHs
The German Food and Commodity Act (Lebensmittel und Bedarfsgegenstandegesetz-LFGB) (German Food Commodity and Feed Law) Section 30 establishes the allowable limits for PAHs:
parameter Plastic, often fixed contact parts, that is, parts that will be in contact for more than 30 seconds (such as handles, steering wheels, etc.) Plastic, occasionally contacted parts, ie parts with contact time less than 30 seconds
BaP 1mg / kg 20mg / kg
Sum of 18 PAHs 10mg / kg 200mg / kg
The detection limit is 0.1 mg / kg. If the material is detected below 0.1 mg / kg, it is regarded as ND (not detected) (the quantitative limit of GS Mark is 0.2 mg / kg).
